Something happened today that still has me seething. I had plans to meet a friend at the Smith Playhouse. It is one of the coolest places to go with a kid under 5. The outside is open only in the summer and on cool days the inside is a great place to go with kids who need to play. I went and was happy that it was not too crowded. I had only Baby A with me since Wildman was at school. I was on “kid light duty” as I call only having one with me. He was playing and through the window I see my friend V. Her son, A may be on spectrum and have Autism. Usually when we see V they also have some type of early intervention person with them. So it was three adults and two kids. Baby A and his friend A are one week apart in age.
So Baby A is near a toy he wants and it happens to be near a boy who is maybe 13 months old and his Dad. Baby A got possessive and grabbed the toy roughly. I stop Baby A and try to show him all the toys are to share. The father mutters under his breath all annoyed “Grabby isn’t he” WHAT THE FUCK. Kids at 2 sometimes get grabby, they learn to share closer to 3. Grabbing is not acceptable behavior but it is NORMAL.
What I was dreaming about in my head the rest of the visit is STOMPING on the guy with big boot screaming, How dare you embarrass me like that you fucking asshole. I can’t wait till your angel is 2 and he grabs a toy and I hope that a parent embarrasses the shit out of you!! Fucking Asshole…………………… geesh so much for parents feeling like we are all in this together!
