Although Friday was the first day off for summer for us today was the first day of our summer routine. I have to say it went great. This morning we were off to swim team and swim lessons. I was able to write the article I had due today. Then home for lunch, and about an hour and a half of home school which includes math, English, science, and social studies lessons online, reading aloud, and journaling in a notebook for the boys blogs.
At school Ryan had to journal. His teacher called it “morning meeting”. I am doing the same thing except after he writes it he can type it on the internet, add pictures, and he gets all kinds of fun feedback from lovely people. I get no fight whatsoever for the same activity. It’s all in the presentation people.
In the later afternoon as everyone was walking out of the zoo we were walking in. We played, saw animals, went on a swan boat, and were together. We like the zoo on chillier cloudy or rainy days. It was the most successful trip to the zoo for us ever. No overloaded sensory boy freaking out. No running away. No meltdowns. Pure
bliss.
As I arrived home I got a call from a lawyer to discuss Ryan and school. It was good. I have to send her his IEP and evaluations. I can’t get all wrapped up in the emotion from that because we had the best day ever. I hope this sets the tone for our whole summer. After the last two summers being so full of medical issues, change, death, angst and awfulness we are ready for a nice safe average time this summer. We deserve about fifty days like today.
