Drinking and working, it’s not what you think

I have been working with a SEO company for about a year. SEO is Search Engine Optimization for those who have no idea what it means.  I rewrite web content, I write guest blog posts, and do all kinds of projects. My latest project is working with big satellite TV provider.  I am writing drink recipes, naming the drinks after TV shows, and writing the recipe into a blog post about the TV show.  Last week it was Battlestar Galactica, this week it is Mad Men.

I have been working with one of my bartending co-workers on the recipes. We sometimes use ingredients I may have at home or at the bar.  Other times we are looking for specific alcohol in airplane sized bottles because I am not buying enough alcohol to start my own bar for the project.  Some of the shows I know nothing about being someone with little time for TV.  One customer at the bar helped with with the background on Battlestar Gallactica.  Being there is so much info about the show on the internet it was nice for someone to give me a point of reference to start my research.

This job has become something my husband loves to think about.  We are not super heavy drinkers or anything but sometimes on a Saturday evening we may have a few drinks on the deck, chat, and play with our technology.  We might make mixed drinks or have a few beers. This project has my usually uninterested in making drinks husband zesting and muddling. He is making shooters, martinis, cocktails, you name it.  Lately on the weekends he has another drink up his sleeve he wants to try.  I love his enthusiasm in the project.  This week I am totally using a drink he made up that is so perfect for Mad Men.  It is an old fashioned drink using some modern ingredients.

Being I serve the alcohol fueled crazies it is good to have someone who wants to make a drink for me.  It is crazy how both of my jobs are colliding in a certain way and those around me are the best references I have.  Even better I get paid to write about what I know.  I am a lucky woman.
