Blog Her Day 3: where your heroine becomes a swag hag

This morning I met up with Jen from the blog Multiple Food Allergy Help.  We had a nice bonding breakfast where we discussed all things food allergies. She had a comment about having a kid with cancer and food allergies she thought the food allergies were harder to manage, THAN CANCER!!!! I then read her blog post comparing and contrasting her sons cancer and food allergy issues. Her post resonated with me and we bonded over our struggle.  Her son is allergic to all the things Aaron is allergic to plus three more.  It was a person I needed to meet.

Then she introduced me to Jen from People I Want To Punch In The Throat.  Woah.  My best friend from high school’s father who is now my friend as an adult turned me onto her.  I have been a fan for a while.  I met her and I gushed  like I was meeting a rock star.
Then I was off to my roomie Lynette’s panel of Google +.  She hit the ball out of the park and her passion for the google + platform has me wanting to go home and engage it more.

After that I went all swag hag.  I, like Ryan am not fond of crowds.  I picked a time to visit the expo halls when they were empty. I was joined by Jasmine who I have gotten to know over the weekend.  I got more tote bags and officially can become a person who goes to the grocery store with her own bags.  I got everything from vibrators to coupons for soymilk SCORE!!  For the brands I can use for Aaron I gave them feedback from the growing food allergy population.  I got to walk up to a pudding company that used to make the BEST soy pudding ever how completely disappointed we were when they discontinued it.  The PR person seemed very happy to hear what I had to say.

Now I am in a panel learning about How to Price and Value Your Services where my girl Cecily is speaking. The topic is not one that applies to me since I am a small memoir blogger who does not run ads. The room is jammed packed and I am super proud of her.

Later on I am off to a dinner with a gang of women and again another night of partying.

Being at Blog Her has been like being on a cruise without the sun and water and twice the food. Everywhere you turn there is a table full of food. It’s disconcerting.

Tomorrow reality crashes in.  I am off home in the morning. I can’t wait to hug all the men in my house, sleep in my bed, listen to their stories, and resume parenting.  My husband has been an ace while I have been away. He had a staycation with the boys and everyone at home sounds happy.  I have walked away from Blog Her with a ton to think about this year.

I’m a lucky woman.
