It’s been raining for the first time in months. It’s sleepy weather that makes you want to stay in bed till 11am watching movies with the kids kind of day. Eventually we all got dressed went to a movie, then to the last remaining arcade in the city, and to dinner on gift cards we got LAST Christmas. It was a lovely day.
At the arcade I had flashbacks of going there before I was old enough to go to a bar legally. We would regularly go to the movies and then to the arcade. I played pinball and I swear I remember playing the same Rocky and Bullwinkle pinball machine. The mechanical flippers were a delight in our now virtual world. My younger son watched me and asked how I got so good and I told him when I was young this was a video game. Being good at pinball I learned is not a skill you loose when you have not accessed it for about twenty years.
I am so glad the labor movement gave us this day to have such a great time as a family. Kids who are allowed to be kids, a husband who if needed can take a sick day, although with his job he’d still be working from home.
For us summer is not over for another week. I hope we have the perfect end to the perfect summer.
