We don’t start school till Friday and already I am starting to get unsettling news.

Ryan has been seeing the same behavioral therapist since June 2011.  She sees him in school and in the summer we see her in her office. She is a constant in all of our lives and that consistency is really important especially with a kid like Ryan.  Ryan’s life has changed greatly seeing this woman professionally but she has also helped me to try new ways of parenting and handling Ryan’s needs.

Yesterday we were scheduled for our last visit to her office and then when school started she would be seeing Ryan at school.  Transitions are hard and she upped our visits to weekly from biweekly for the transition to school.   As we came in to see her she said the school janitor had called her and asked if she was coming to clear out her office!! She was like, WHAT?!?!?!  Apparently the school in their infinite stupidity hired a new agency after 30 years and never told the agency that provided therapists to the school that they were out.  Already my blood boils.  This really effects my family.  Part of her usefulness was her ability to interface with the family and the teachers to help Ryan.  Now if this is a problem for us, HOW MANY OTHER KIDS DOES THIS EFFECT?  When were the school going to tell us about the changes.  When were they going to tell this staff they no longer had a job!!!   To find out via a custodian telling her to clean out her office is not professional.  Heck, it is akin to getting broken up with via text.

I know I have a ton of PTSD about school last year and I am really trying to stay positive but is this the beginning of more hell that can get much much worse?
