This is the last day of homework with me sitting in between two kids who are set on distracting and talking over each other.  This is the last day I will be struggling to listen to Aaron read while I answer Ryan’s questions. This is the last time Aaron will be stuck indoors if Ryan is not cooperating.  Aaron is so excited to have someone just to give attention to him, even if it is not me.  Ryan is so excited that Aaron will not annoy him during our homework time.

She starts Monday.  Every school day Monday through Thursday from 3:45pm till 5pm she will be with us.  She will help Aaron with his homework and listen to him read in another room as I help Ryan.  If Aaron is done she will take him out to play as we finish.  As per my rules we no longer do homework past 5pm.  Anything we have not finished we do on the weekend.  I am not looking at this as a defeat but as a victory. Finally our lives are not going to revolve around me freaking out about what the school wants but my kids get their childhood back.  They will have time in their lives to play, go to swim team, and have other thoughts than ones of school.  I will not be battening down the hatches to sit between the two pulling out my hair.

I can’t wait.
