Marriage and Surviving Special Needs Parenting.

Today was a rough day around here. I am still in pretty bad shape although the Tamaflu has reduced my symptoms by a third.  My husband is still recovering from his bout with the flu.  We are all in bad shape.

The kids are in HIGH spirits.  They had a very typical Saturday with homework for Ryan and the B Champs swim meet.  Of course my husband and I were slated to volunteer.   Before we headed out to the meet my husband became increasingly short tempered.  I was also in the short tempered place pretty much all day.  We snapped and he was snapping at the kids. I said, c’mon you are snapping at them over nothing.

That turned into a short snap back and forth that married couples do at times. As we drove in the car and the kids quieted down to play their DS’s on the ride he said, look I’m sorry, sometimes I get overwhelmed with all we have been handed with our kids.  I just drove for a minute, said, yeah me too, and took his hand.

I guess it takes a little understanding from someone on the journey with you to set things straight sometimes.

  1. Be happy you have each other to get through this time of your lives…

  2. Sounds like you both have an awesome partner! I hope everyone feels better soon.
