Stay with me here folks I have interesting news.
This week my DVR died. I can’t believe how much I love this technology. When I need to pretend it is evening in the daytime, 15 or 20 minutes of DVR’ed TV can get me to fall asleep. I love I can watch just a little bit of a show and fall asleep and watch the rest later. I can watch whatever junk TV I want, whenever I want. Now I have a new DVR and I have to find all the junk for the brain all over again.
Setting up the DVR had me thinking of my friend Rick D who died three years ago today. Rick had a real “tough, yet sensitive guy” persona. He always wore all black and motorcycle boots in all-weather but when it got late and had a few drinks he was one of the lovey-est people I ever met. Today as I was setting up my DVR I had this memory of Rick that made me laugh. I remember when I worked for him on Monday nights I was not allowed to call till after the TV show, 90210 was over. The thought of that still makes me laugh, big tough guy loving his 90210. Rest in Peace, friend.
This Monday when I was at work my friend Marc and I were chatting. He was telling me about this show he was doing. They were doing a Stooges cover night at a local bar for Hatii. In my lack of sleep stupor, I let him talk me into joining his band to cover TVEye. At first, I was a little hesitant. My friend started emailing me about it again. His band rehearses really close to my house and we have some time that we can get together to rehearse. I was a bit hesitant to tell my husband. I was not sure how he’d take the extra solo parenting duties but he was excited for me to get back on the horse so to speak. Tonight as we cleaned up the kitchen after dinner and picked up the geo-track trains the boys had strewn around the house we had family rock out night. They were really excited that Mom was going to sing with the band but they were so mad they couldn’t come.
So you Philly peeps can come see punky mama get her groove on. I will post the date and place when I get more details…..Stay tuned.
